Chris Orr, RA, RE (born 1943) is a well-known artist printmaker who was born in Islington, north London. He studied at Ravensbourne and Hornsey Schools of Art and in 1967 graduated from the Royal College of Art with an MA in Printmaking. He exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1987 and was elected RA in 1995. Orr was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers in 1988 and was appointed Professor of Printmaking at The Royal College of Art 1998. He has also showed at Serpentine Gallery, London; Whitechapel Gallery; Galleria Grafica, Tokyo; Jay Street Gallery, New York; Jill George Gallery; the Ruskin Library, Lancaster; and at many other venues. His work is held in numerous public collections including Arts Council of Great Britain, British Museum, Government Art Collection, Museum of London, Tate Gallery, and Victoria & Albert Museum. He has published in excess of 400 limited edited prints in etching, screenprint and lithography. Chris Orr has also taught at Cardiff College of Art, at St Martin’s and at the Royal College of Art
