Sean Crampton, GM, MC, PRBS (1918-1999) was an important sculptor, printmaker, and war veteran, who was honoured for his bravery and self sacrifice during World War II with the George Medal and the Military Cross. Born in Manchester, he studied at the Vittoria School of Art in Birmingham 1930-33, then at the Central School of Art Birmingham, and finally in Paris. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Scottish Academy, Royal West of England Academy, Leicester Galleries etc, and was elected President of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. He lived at Calne in Wiltshire.
