Martin Baillie (1920-2012) was a well-known painter, lecturer and art critic. He was born in Edinburgh and studied at Edinburgh College of Art, where he gained a travelling scholarship. After war service in India he settled in Leeds and exhibited extensively at the Royal Scottish Academy from 1949. In 1950 he was elected a member of The Society of Scottish Artists (SSA). Martin Baillie moved to Glasgow in 1954 and he taught art history at the University of Glasgow. His work is held in a number of public collections including Glasgow Museums and the Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries.Art 1937-40 and after war service he took up a scholarship at the Royal College of Art under Robert Austin 1946-49. He has exhibited widely, including at the Royal Academy from 1948, and also with the Royal Watercolour Society, the Royal Society of British Artists, the New English Art Club, and the London Group. Charles Bartlett was elected an Associate of the RWS in 1959, a full member of the Royal Society of Painter Etchers in 1961, a full member of the RWS in 1970, and he was President of the RWS from 1987-92. In 1960-70 he taught printmaking at Harrow School of Art. Charles Bartlett's work is held in many public collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum. He lived in London for some years and latterly in East Anglia.studied at St Martin's School of Art 1960 and the Byam Shaw Art School 1961. She exhibited at the Royal Academy from 1964, with the New English Art Club from 1975, of which she became a member, and at other leading galleries including the Royal West of England Academy. Ardizzone had many solo shows including at Drian Galleries, Blond Fine Art, Bohun Gallery, and The Curwen Gallery. She lived and worked in London for many years, and later in Norfolk and south-west France. Her work is held in a number of public collections.
