Norman Ackroyd, RA, RE (born 1938) is one of Britain’s leading printmakers. He was born in Leeds and studied at Leeds College of Art 1956-61 and then at the Royal College of Art in London 1961-64. Ackroyd exhibited with the Royal Academy from 1964 and was elected ARA 1988 and RA 1991. He is also a member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers (RE) and he has won prestigious awards, including at the Bradford Biennale in 1972 & 1982. Norman Ackroyd’s work is held in many public collections, including Tate Gallery, London; Arts Council of Great Britain; British Council; British Museum; Leeds Museums & Galleries; National Gallery of Scotland; and in numerous important overseas collections. He lives and works in London.
