Katharine
Church: Katharine
Church (1910-1999) was a well known painter in oils and
watercolour of landscapes, interiors, figures, and still
life subjects. Born in Brighton, she studied art at
Brighton School of Art 1928-30, then at the Royal
Academy Schools 1930-33, and finally at the Slade School
in London 1933-34. She exhibited at the Royal Academy,
New English Art Club, the London Group, Women's
International Art Club etc and is represented in several
public collections including the Government Art
Collection, Brighton & Hove Museum and Art Gallery, the
National Museum of Wales, and the Contemporary Art
Society. Katharine Church lived in Chelsea in the 1930s
and then for much of the rest of here life in Dorset.
