Maurice Cockrill: Maurice Cockrill, RA (born 1936, Hartlepool, County Durham) is a well known painter, printmaker and teacher.  He studied art Denbigh Technical College in North Wales from 1960 and at the University of Reading 1963-64. He then taught art full time for a number of years, including at Liverpool College of Art and Liverpool Polytechnic, and was later a Visiting Tutor at the Royal College of Art, St Martins School of Art and then at the Royal Academy Schools. Maurice Cockrill was appointed Keeper of the Royal Academy Schools 2005. He has exhibited in major shows internationally, including in the UK, USA, Australia, Germany and France, and a retrospective show of his work was held at the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool in 1995. He was elected a member of the Royal Academy in 1999.
