Fairclough:
Michael Fairclough, RE, NEAC (born 1940, Blackburn, son
of the artist Wilfred Fairclough) is a painter and
printmaker, mainly of landscapes and seascapes. He
studied at Kingston School of Art 1957-61, at the
British School in Rome 1964-67, and with S W Hayter at
Atelier 17 in Paris in 1967. Michael Fairclough has
exhibited extensively, including with the Royal Society
of Painter Etchers (becoming an associate in 1964 and a
full member in 1973) and the New English Art Club
(member 1995). He was also elected to the Printmakers
Council in 1981. His work is held in a number of public
collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum, the
Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, the Government Art
Collection, and New York City Public Library.
