Harold Frank: Harold Frank (1921-1995) was an important American abstract expressionist painter in oil, gouache and watercolour, influenced by Willem de Kooning.  Born in England, he moved to Los Angeles, California at a young age and then studied in Paris.  He painted with a vigour and immediacy throughout his working life, and although he initially favoured portraits and figure subjects, and some still lifes, he became most interested in abstract expressionism in the 1950s. His work was exhibited extensively but as it is said that he didn't like parting with his paintings it perhaps explains why so few have appeared on the market in recent years.

A book on the artist titled 'Harold Frank, Abstract Expressionist', wriiten by Sandie Stern, was published in America in 2001.
