Inez Estella Hoyton (1903-1983) was a painter in oil,
watercolour and pastel. She studied at Leeds College of
Art and trained to be an art teacher. When her husband,
the artist Edward Bouverie Hoyton (1900-1988), became
Principal of Penzance School of Art, Inez taught there
from 1946-1968. She exhibited at the Royal Academy in
the 1940s, and was closely associated with the Cornish
art societies, becoming a member of the Newlyn Society
of Artists, the St Ives Society of Artists, and the
Penwith Society. Inez travelled widely, most notably in
Greece, Italy, Spain and the United States. She lived in
Newlyn for many years.
