Title: 'Harlequin I'

Description: This is an etching with aquatint annotated as 'BAT' lower left (BAT means 'Bon á tirer' which translates as “good to pull).” This is the first perfect impression of the work and the one that was used to judge all other impressions in the edition. It is pencil signed by the artist lower right. The published edition from 1986 extends to 35 numbered prints. This etching is in good condition but has one or two printers marks to the reverse of the paper.

The provenance of this work is the estate of the former Morley College (London) tutor and master printmaker, the late Richard Michell, who in latter years had his home and studio in Dorking, Surrey. He worked on the printing of works by a number of artists including David Hockney OM, CH, RA and Michael Sandle RA.

Size: About 4.4 x 2.9 inches plate size and about 9.8 x 8.4 inches sheet size; unframed

NOTE: We also have a pencil signed Artist's Proof of this print in mint condition. It is also available for £95 shipped within the UK.
