Finn Juhl (1912-1989)
Finn Juhl was born on
January 30, 1912 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He later
graduated from Sct. Jørgens Gymnasium, 1930 and studied
at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of
Architecture, 1930-34.
Designed furniture ranges
in the early 1950s for Baker Furniture, Michigan and
later France & Daverkosen, Ørholm and France & Son from
1953 to 1969.
Juhl was also a very
successful architect. Designing buildings and interiors
for Georg Jensen, DC-8 plane interiors, and SAS's ticket
offices in Europe and Asia.
He won many honours and
awards including The Kaufmann International Design Award
in 1960, Honorary Royal Designer for Industry, London in
1978 and Knight of the Order of the Dannebrog, 1984.

the 'Chieftain' armchair, NV-45 armchairs and the
