Edwin La Dell:
Edwin La Dell ARA, RBA (1914-1970) is one of our
favourite post war printmakers and painters. He was born
in Rotherham, and won scholarships to Sheffield School
of Art and the Royal College of Art where he studied
under John Nash, and where later he became head of
printmaking. He was elected a member of the Royal
Society of British Artists in 1950 and an Associate of
the Royal Academy 1969. He was a hugely influential
printmaker in particular and his work is held in many
public collections, including the Tate Gallery, the
Victoria & Albert Museum, the Imperial War Museum, and
the Government Art Collection. He lived at Grafty Green
in Kent.
