Olga Lehmann:
Olga Lehmann, NS, SGA (1914-2001) was a versatile
painter, muralist and designer, born in Catemu, Chile. She came to
England with her family and studied at the Slade School of Fine Art
from 1929-1935 under Allan Gwynne-Jones and Vladimir Polunin.
Lehmann painted portraits, scenes of London and the Home
Counties in wartime, and landscapes often near to her Essex homes in
Great Sampford and later at Saffron Walden, as well as being a
designer for the theatre, films and television. She exhibited at
the London Group, New English Art Club, and was a member of the
National Society of Painters and Sculptors and of the Society of
Graphic Artists. Her work is held in the Imperial War Museum, the
RAF Museum, and the Fry Art Gallery in Saffron Walden.
