Eric Bruce McKay: Eric
Bruce McKay, FRSA, PS (born 1907) was a painter in oil
and pastel of landscapes and figure subjects. Born in
Hampstead, he studied at Hampstead School of Art, then
at the LCC School of Art, and finally in Florence. He
exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists, the
Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Pastel Society (of
which group he was a member), and overseas in North
America in particular. He had a love of Italy and
painted there and in the south of France extensively,
and was noted for his fine sense of colour which came
alive in these 'Mediterranean' subjects. McKay lived in
Eastbourne in the post war years and although
information on this is conflicting we think he died in
1989.
