Edward Rogers: Edward Rogers (1911-1994) is known mainly as a painter and maker of constructions in a geometric abstract style.  He was born in Wisbech and educated in Ely, Cambridgeshire, and began painting in 1937, being self taught as an artist. Until 1948 he produced mainly portraits and landscapes, and then became interested in abstract and surrealist work. By the late 1950s he was making cut-metal reliefs and sculptures and colourful geometric abstract oils. He had one-man shows at the Drian Galleries in London 1966 and at the Vincintoria Art Gallery in Brighton 1968. The BBC made a documentary film on his work.
