Raoh Schorr:
Raoh Schorr (1901-1991) was a well known sculptor, painter, designer
and ceramicist, born at Muttenz in Switzerland. He studied art in
Basle, Geneva, Munich and Paris. After working for thirteen years in
Paris he moved to London in 1936. He exhibited at the Royal Academy
from 1937 and had solo shows at The Redfern Gallery 1937, The
Cooling Galleries 1967, and Clarges Gallery 1972. Schorr modelled
many animal subjects at both the Paris and London Zoos and designed
pottery animals for Royal Doulton and Royal Worcester. His bronze
‘Bengal Tiger’ from 1927 is held by The Tate Gallery and his work is
also represented in the Imperial War Museum. Raoh Schorr lived in
west London for many years and died in Switzerland.
