John Harold Thomas Snow:
John
Snow, RCA, ASA (1911-2004) was an important Canadian painter
and printmaker of landscapes, figures and still life, and
was a central figure in the modernist movement in the
Province of Alberta. He was born in Vancouver, British
Columbia, and spent the majority of his working life in
Calgary. He is noted for his strong colour, especially in
his printmaking. John Snow's work is represented in the
National Gallery of Canada, Ottawa and in many other public
collections in that country. In 1989 Edmonton Art Gallery in
Alberta held a major show of his work 'John Snow: Four
