Artist: Ursula McCannell,
ARCA (born 1923)
Title: Oil on canvas, 'Pan
and his Pipes'
Description:
Ursula McCannell is the daughter of the painter Otway
McCannell RBA. She studied at Farnham School of Art and
at the Royal College of Art 1942-44, and has exhibited
at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of Portrait Painters
and the London Group, etc. Solo shows have been held at
Roland, Browse and Delbanco and Gimpel Fils. Major
exhibitions of her work have been held more recently
by the Fosse Gallery, Stow-on-the-Wold.
This framed oil measures 10
x 12 inches without its frame, and is signed and dated
1951. It is quite a scarce and relatively early work by
this collected artist. The painting is in good
condition, although there is one small patch to the
reverse. Ideally the frame should be replaced, as it is
not original to the painting and is in need of some
repair...
