Artist:
BRIAN ROBB, LG (1913-1979)
Title: 'SEASIDE',
Scarborough (original
lithograph) Description:
Brian Robb was a painter, printmaker and
illustrator, born in Scarborough. He studied at the
Slade School in London in the mid 1930s, and was a
member of the London Group. His work is held by the Arts
Council and the Contemporary Art Society.
This original lithograph
measures 13.5 x 18 inches sight size, and in its very
large frame it measures 29.5 x 35 inches. It was once in
the ownership of a local authority education committee
who had it framed rather extravagantly!
It is pencil signed by
Robb, dated 1964 and numbered 15 of 30 prints only. The
label on the reverse gives the title as 'Seafront' but
this is in fact a view of South Bay, Scarborough during
summertime.
The frame has had some
repairs over the years and the lithograph is in very
good condition for its age, with one or two very minor
handling creases only...
