Hvidt (1916-1986) and Olga Molgaard-Nielson (1907-1993)
Manufacturer:
France & Daverkosen, Denmark
Description:
A
relatively scarce pair of occasional '523' tables in teak with the
original tube steel legs designed by Peter Hvidt
(1916-1986) and Olga Molgaard-Nielson (1907-1993) for
France & Daverkosen of Denmark in 1952. These tables have a
lovely rich patina and are in very good vintage
condition, save of one table one leg has its black
'foot' missing. As one would expect with furniture of
this age there are one or two marks on both tables,
nothing of any significance.
These tables were sold singly originally but if six were
purchased they could be used to make a large low table
from the modular sections (known as a
pinwheel table). Alternatively the sections could be
set up in a long snake-like form.
These pieces are quite early, probably late 1950s, as
they have the France & Daverkosen (later France &
Son) Denmark brass disks inset.
Each table is also stamped twice with the FD logo, and
once each with the patent number and the model number.
This is great Danish design!...
