Artist: SHIRO TAKAGI (Japanese - born 1934)

Title: STILL LIFE (framed original signed and editioned Japanese Woodblock)

Description:  Shiro Takagi studied at the Musashino College of Fine Arts and then under the noted woodblock artist Amano Kunihiro.  He began exhibiting in 1957 and his work has been shown internationally at such prestigious events as the print biennale shows in Tokyo, Sao Paulo, Paris, Los Angeles, Krackow and Grenchen.  His prints are well collected in the United States and Europe.

This original woodblock print is housed in what we think is its original frame.  It is in very good condition save for some minor discolouration in the margins from the original printing.  The use by the artist predominantly of red, black and green points to this being an early print (i.e. pre 1971) and of course it is relatively scarce piece as the print run was limited to 50 only (most of his prints were in editions of 200).

The print is pencil signed in both Japanese and English, dated 1969, and is numbered 37 of 50.  It measures about 14 x 20.7 inches image size and about 22 x 28.5 inches in its frame...
