Description: Painter of figurative and abstract subjects in oils, watercolours, collage and mixed media; printmaker and writer on art.  In 1946, after working initially as a landscape watercolourist, Michael Rothenstein embarked upon his career as a printmaker. He showed at the RA from 1932, becoming ARA in 1977 and RA in 1984, and he is represented in public collections including the Tate Gallery. He worked for the Recording Britain scheme 1940-43 and lectured extensively. He was greatly influenced by S W Hayter and in the 1960’s produced many mixed media prints using abstract symbols and attained a worldwide reputation as one of the most exciting British printmakers of the twentieth century.

This watercolour measures about 10 x 12 inches image size and is signed in ink by Michael Rothenstein.  It is likely to date from the 1940s and is in excellent, fresh condition.  It was re-framed a few years ago, and the frame is in good condition...
