Description:
Humphrey Spender
was an internationally known photographer, painter and
printmaker, and brother to the poet Stephen Spender. He
had one man painting shows at the Redfern and Leicester
Galleries, and the New Art Centre, and his work is held
in the Victoria & Albert Museum, and many other public
collections.
In
1969/70 Spender made a series of lithographs for the
well known Curwen Prints Limited, a number of which are
in the Government Art Collection. This Irish subject is
pencil signed 'Humphrey Spender' and is numbered 55 of
65 prints. Another impression of this lithograph is in
the collection of the Tate Gallery.
The sheet size is 23 x 32.2 inches and the image size is
17.2 x 22.6 inches. In good condition, this print does
have a small tear to the paper at the right hand margin
(see photo) and some minor handling creases, also well
away from the image...
