Artist:
LESZEK TADEUSZ MUSZYNSKI (born 1923)
Title:
'Pierrot' - original unframed lithograph
Description:
Polish born Leszek Muszynski is well known as a painter
and printmaker. He came to Britain and studied at
Edinburgh College of Art under William Gillies and John
Maxwell 1946-49. His work was shown in numerous 1 man
exhibitions in London and abroad, and he is represented
in the Victoria & Albert Museum and the National
Portrait Gallery etc. After retirement he lived at
Liphook in Hampshire, and also spent time working at his
homes in Ibiza and Mexico.
This is a particularly attractive print and our feeling
is that it was produced in very limited numbers. It is
pencil signed by the artist and dated (19)54.
The sheet size is about 19 x 15 inches and the image
size is 15 x 11 inches. In good overall condition for
its age, this print does have some minor blemishes in
the margins and the mounting marks for the stone litho
process are clearly visible (but will of course be
covered if and when the lithograph is mounted and
framed). There is also some staining along the top
margin, well away from the image (visible in the
photograph). The image itself is very fresh with good
colour...
