Painter and illustrator, born in Purley. Maddox
exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Watercolour
Society, Royal West of England Academy etc, and was
elected a member of the Royal Institute of Watercolour
Painters in 1959, becoming its President in 1989. He
said of his work 'paintings and drawings are mainly
topographical, exploring the shapes and design of
landforms, the textures and patterns of buildings'.
This is a fine quality watercolour of The Adam and Eve,
Bishopgate, which we understand to be the oldest public
house in Norwich. It is mounted but not framed, and
measures about 11.7 x 18.2 inches image size. The
watercolour is signed lower right and it is likely to
date to the 1970s. The condition of it is very good...
