Description: Rachel Reckitt was a painter, wood engraver and sculptor. She was born at St Albans and studied at the Grosvenor School of Modern Art in the 1930s under Iain Macnab.  She exhibited with the London Group, Society of Wood Engravers etc, and her work is held in several public collections.  In recent years her work has become sought after.

The present oil painting is on board, and it measures 30 x 25 inches.  It is signed lower left, and is likely to date to circa 1956.  We think the subject was painted in Portugal, as Reckitt did other similar work in that country at that time.  It is currently unframed and is in good, original condition...
