Artist:
DAPHNE FEDARB, RBA, NS,
WIAC (1912-1992)
Title:
'ABSTRACT COMPOSITION'
(signed oil on canvas - framed) Description:
Daphne Fedarb studied at the Slade School 1931-34 and
then at the Westminster School of Art 1936-39 under Mark
Gertler and Bernard Meninsky. She painted mainly
figurative work in both oils and watercolours and was
married to the painter Ernest Fedarb. She exhibited at
the Royal Academy, Fine Art Society etc and was elected
a member of the Royal Society of British Artists, the
National Society and of the Womens International Art
Club. I remember several of her paintings hanging in
the house of an artist friend of my father's, she being
one of Daphne's contemporaries. Daphne Fedarb's
paintings are now highly collectable.
The
present painting is an oil on canvas, measuring 20 x 16
inches excluding its more modern frame. The oil is
signed lower left and is in very good condition for its
age. The frame is also in good condition. Daphne
Fedarb painted abstract compositions mainly in the 1940s
(one having been shown at the Royal Academy) and we
believe that this painting too will date from that
period...
