GLYNN THOMAS
Title:
'COVEHITHE'
(SUFFOLK) - unframed original coloured etching
Description:
Glynn
Thomas, RE (born 1946), born in Cambridge, is one of
the most collected printmakers at work in Britain
today. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-
Printmakers and was awarded the Davy's prize for best
print at the RE in 1983. He has had a number of one-man
exhibitions, including at The Minories in Colchester,
and has shown at the Royal Academy etc. His work is
held in the Museum of London, the Ashmolean Museum
Oxford, and Ipswich Museum. He lives in Suffolk.
The
present original print dates, we think, to the 1980s and
the edition was long since sold out. It is pencil
signed, titled 'Covehithe' and is numbered 20 of an
edition of 150. The image measures about 5.4 x 5 inches
and the paper size is untrimmed at 9.5 x 7.7 inches.
The etching is in very good 'fresh' condition although
there is very slight time staining where the mount abuts
the paper. The paper has deckle edges. There is a
backboard with details of the original sale of this
print but the work is not framed.
Covehithe is a village on the Suffolk coast, about five
miles north of Southwold...
