Description:  Christopher Sanders RA, RP (1905-1991) was a well very known painter in oil of landscapes, portraits and flower subjects. Born in Wakefield, Yorkshire he attended the School of Art there 1922-24, Leeds School of Art 1924-26, and then the Royal College of Art, London 1926-29.  Sanders exhibited regularly at Royal Academy from early 1930s, becoming ARA 1953, RA1961, and in 1968 he was elected a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters. He won a gold medal at the Paris Salon in 1955.  Christopher Sanders lived for many years at Isleworth in Middlesex.

The present painting is an oil on canvas measuring 15 x 18 inches image size and about 21.5 x 24.5 inches in its frame.  It is signed lower right, and signed again and titled in pencil by the artist on the canvas overlap.  Sanders painted regularly in France and Boissy-Le-Repos is a village in the department of Marne, between Reims and Troyes.  The painting is in excellent condition. The frame is very suited to it but has suffered some damage upper right (please see photo)...
