Designer:
Hans Olsen
Manufacturer:
Frem Rojle, Denmark
Description:
A highly sought after dining set in
Burmese teak
designed in the 1952 by Hans Olsen for Frem Rojle,
Denmark.
The teak table is covered in original white melamine, which
we think will date this early production table to the mid to
late 1950s. The surface has signs of some fifty years of
use, including various chips to the melamine at the edges
and one small area which has yellowed with time. The
melamine top is useful for the younger family as any spilt
drinks etc won't prove as damaging as those on a bare teak
surface!
The table has the Danish Furniture Makers Control label to
the underside but we cannot see the usual Frem Rojle burn
mark (see image 6 which also shows the different surface to
the underside on these early tables). This is definitely a
Frem Rojle production (and is sold as such) and in those
early days the makers may not have been as rigorous in
applying the stamps. The chairs all have both the Frem Rojle
burn mark and the Danish Furniture Makers Control labels
(see image 7).
The table is in good vintage condition including
structurally, as are the four chairs which are all sound.
One chair has had a repair some years ago to one leg (see
image 4) but otherwise it is in very good order and should
provide many years of further use. One other chair has a 25
mm split to the original vinyl on the seat (see image 5).
The are one or two other vinyl chips to the sides of the
seats but essentially these chairs are in good vintage
condition for their age. The chairs have the option of the
black vinyl padding to the rail on the seat back...
