Description: Donald
Bain (1904-1979) was a painter, printmaker and designer,
born in Kilmacolm, Renfrewshire. His art teacher, W Y

influenced also by the work of Henri Matisse. He later
became involved with J D Fergusson in the New Scottish

Glasgow 1948. Bain showed his work widely in France and
an important touring exhibition of his work took place
in Scotland 1972-73. The Scottish Arts Council and
Scottish Gallery of Modern Art hold his work. After
some years of neglect Donald Bain's work is now highly
collected.
The present work is an original abstract lithograph in
green and blue measuring about 21 x 26 inches sheet
size. The lithograph is signed by the artist and dated
1966. It has been laid down on a paper board (we think
many years ago) and it is in good condition save for
some staining to the outer edge at top right (please see
image) and a small indentation to the paper at centre
left. The paper is not holed or torn. The staining at
the edge will not be visible once the lithograph is
framed...
