Description:
Michael
Hale (born 1934, London) is a well known abstract printmaker
and painter. He studied at Norwich School of Art 1952-56 and
at the Royal Academy Schools 1956-60. Michael Hale has
exhibited at the Royal Academy, at the AIA Gallery 1966, and
he was one of the artists included in the Arts Council
exhibition, Eight English Printmakers 1970. His work is
included in the Government Art Collection (four prints) and
in the collection of the University of Warwick (two prints).
His style is abstract using symmetry and pattern to create
optical effects in his work. Michael Hale was Head of the
Printing Department at Leicester Polytechnic.
The present work is an original screenprint, pencil
signed, dated (19)79, titled, numbered and framed as
supplied originally by CCA Galleries. It is titled
'Phrygian Cadence 3', measures about 22 x 22 inches
image size and about 37 x 27 inches framed, and is
numbered 31 from an edition of 40. The title of this
work reflects the artist's interest in music.
The screenprint is in excellent condition as is the
frame, although there is no glass (removed for safety in
view of the size). Similar
