Artist:
David Humphreys
Title:
'Cornish Harbour' (an original signed screenprint, unframed
)
Description:
David Humphreys, RCamA (born 1937, London) is a well known
landscape painter and printmaker. He studied at Durham
University under Victor Pasmore 1958-62. He tends to work
mainly in Wales and Scotland, but has also painted in Europe
and South America. His work has been exhibited extensively
in the UK and overseas and he was elected a member of the
Royal Cambrian Academy in 1989. David Humphreys' work is
held by the Arts Council and in a number of local authority
and university collections.
We are not 100% certain about the method used to make this
print but we think it is a screenprint, dating probably to
the mid 1970s. The work is pencil signed by the artist,
titled 'Cornish Harbour' and numbered 3 from an edition of
100 prints. It was published by the
Retigraphic Society and is on fine quality BFK Rives paper.
The print measures about 18.8 x 28.8 inches image size on a
full sheet. This is a superb image but the print is in only
fair condition as there are some issues with it (some
creasing, especially in the margin to the upper left corner;
mount burn in the margins from old framing; and a scuff to
the paper, in the image, roof of second house from the
left). For this reason the print is being offered at
a substantial discount to the price of a perfect example,
but it is still a nice thing! The work is unframed...
