Artist: Robert Tavener  

Title: 'Kings College Chapel' - Cambridge Series (an original signed lithograph - framed) 

Description: Robert Tavener, RE (1920-2004) was one of the most respected and collected British printmakers of the second half of the 20th century.  He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy and was a senior Fellow of the Royal Society of Painter Etchers.  His work is held in a number of public collections, including the Victoria & Albert Museum, National Museum of Wales, the Government Art Collection, and the Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne.

This work is pencil signed, titled, and is inscribed 'Artist's Proof'. The image measures about 21 x 16 inches and is housed in a good quality RWS style wooden frame, measuring about 29.5 x 23.7 inches, which is in good condition save for one minor loss.  The print itself appears to be in good condition, but we are not certain whether or not there has been some slight fading to the sky area.  The price has been adjusted to take account of this uncertainty but the work is comparable in colour to another example we have seen of this print.  The lithograph dates to 1970. 

We have not examined the lithograph out of the frame.  There is some discolouration to the inside of the glass in places...
