Claire Dalby, RWS, RE, SWE (born 1944, St Andrews, Fife)
is a well known painter in watercolour and printmaker,
mainly of landscapes, still lifes and garden subjects.
She studied at the City and Guilds of London Art School
1964-67. Claire Dalby has exhibited widely, including
at the Royal Academy from 1966, and was elected a member
of the Royal Watercolour Society 1973, Royal Society of
Painter Etchers 1978, and the Society of Wood Engravers
1984. Her work is held in a number of public
collections, including the Victoria and Albert Museum,
London; National Museum and Galleries of Wales, Cardiff;
Ashmolean Museum, Oxford; Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge;
Natural History Museum, London; and the Shetland Museum,
Lerwick. She has lived in Perthshire since 1997.
The present work is an original watercolour which
measures about 10.2 x 14 inches image size. It is
signed by the artist with her maiden name (Claire
Longbotham) and has her label verso with the title
'Somerset Landscape'. The watercolour was exhibited at
the Royal Academy in 1967, #233. It is mounted, but
unframed, and is in good condition.
We are also showing another work by Claire Dalby, a
watercolour titled 'The Yew Tree'. That work measures
about 10.5 x 14 inches image size and it is also
unframed and in good condition. It is signed 'Claire
Longbotham' and was also exhibited at the Royal Academy
in 1967, #249. 'The Yew Tree' is priced at £95...
