Artist: Richard Murry

Title: The Jetty - (an original signed watercolour painting - framed)

Description: Richard Arthur Crossthwaite Murry, NEAC (1902-1984) was a painter of landscapes, figures and coastal scenes in oil and watercolour. Born in Dulwich he studied at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, and later at the Slade School. Murry exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists, the London Group, and with the New English Art Club and the National Society of Painters and Gravers of which two groups he was a full member. He was also elected to membership of the Art Workers Guild. Examples of his work are held by the National Portrait Gallery and Manchester Art Gallery. He lived for many years in London.

The present work is an original watercolour titled 'The Jetty', painted we think in France, measuring about 9.8 x 13.8 inches image size. The watercolour is signed by Richard Murry, dated 1938 and inscribed (later) 'to Peggy '41'.  It was exhibited as #60 in the New English Art Club show held in Winter 1938/39 and the painting is still housed in its original frame with the NEAC label verso.  The watercolour is in good, fresh condition...
