Artist:
Zdzislaw Ruszkowski
Title:
Seated female nude - an original watercolour painting,
unframed
Description: The art critic and author J P Hodin (1905-1995) was a
good friend of the artist and we have been able to
acquire some original watercolours and aquatints by
Ruszkowski which came originally from Paul Hodin's
library following his death. We understand they were a
gift from the artist on special occasions, such as a
birthday or Christmas. Details and images of the other
Ruszkowski works are available on request.
The present work is an original signed watercolour from
the Hodin collection of a seated female nude, dating we
think to the early 1950s. It is unsigned and unframed
and measures about 13 x 10 inches image size. The watercolour
is in good condition overall, save for a tear to the
paper at the left margin (pictured) and some very light
foxing and creasing.
We are also showing one other Ruszkowski watercolour,
shown in the final two images. This work is unframed and
measures about 14 x 9 inches image size. It is signed by
the artist with his first name, dated November 1965 and
dedicated to J P Hodin for his birthday. Although we
cannot be certain on this point, we think this work
would have been executed in 1965 when the artist was
staying with friends in their boathouse in Devon which
overlooked the River Dart. This watercolour is also in
generally good condition, save for a crease to the
centre of the paper (where the work was folded to make a
'card') and some uneveness to the paper to the left
margin. This work is priced at £195...
