Title: Goatherd - an original signed pastel, framed

Description: The present work is an original pastel measuring about 24 x 19.2 inches image size and about 31.5 x 26 inches in its original wooden frame. It is signed upper right and is inscribed with the title 'Goatherd' and price (30 guineas) on the exhibition label verso (see image).  We think this work will have been shown at the Pastel Society some time in the mid to late 1950s as the Eastbourne address recorded is an early one for the artist.  This piece is in very good original condition. The frame has some wear and tear over the years, but it is still is satisfactory condition and the pastel is ready to hang. We think it likely that this work would have resulted from a visit to Provence, probably to the area around Gordes...
