Ian McKeever, RA (born 1946) is a well-known painter, sculptor, printmaker and teacher. He was born at Withernsea in East Yorkshire and, after gaining a degree in English Literature, he began painting in 1969. He had a solo show at Cardiff Arts Centre in 1971 and exhibited in Berlin and went on to have extensive group and solo shows, notably in Germany. Later shows included Whitechapel Art Gallery 1990, Bernard Jacobsen Gallery 1994, Kettle’s Yard Cambridge 2004 and Newlyn Art Gallery also 2004. He was elected RA in 2003 and his work is held in a number of public collections including Arts Council Collection; British Council Collection; Tate Gallery; Towner Art Gallery, Eastbourne; The Whitworth, Manchester; and Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool.
