Artist: Mieczyslaw Lurczynski
Title: 'Approaching the Desert Fort'
Description: We have an extensive collection of work by this artist who spent the majority of his working life in France. The paintings will appear on this site over a period of time and also on our sister website Nick Waters Art. The present work is in mixed media, mainly watercolour, and depicts a fort on the edge of the Algerian Desert (part of the Sahara). The work is likely to date to the mid 1960s as it seems unlikely that the artist would have ventured there until after the war in Algeria had ended in 1962. The work is signed by the artist lower right. It has good strong colour and appears never to have been framed. Although stored for many years, the work has several areas of light creasing to the paper, especially down the right hand side of the paper. It should look good once sympathetically mounted, framed and glazed.
Size: About 12.0 x 13.0 inches paper size; unframed
