Pamela Pebworth , RWA, SWE (1931-2019) was a well-known painter and wood-engraver. She was born in Altrincham, Cheshire, and worked in a textile studio in Manchester before studying at the Bath Academy of Art, Corsham, 1951-54. Later she trained in antique furniture restoration at West Dean College in West Sussex 1974. She began wood-engraving in 1988 and was influenced by engravers such as Gwenda Morgan and Gertrude Hermes. Pam Pebworth achieved considerable success with her work and was elected a member of the Society of Wood Engravers (SWE) in 1993 and later a full member of the Royal West of England Academy. She found her subjects mainly in Devon, Somerset and Cornwall and lived for some years at Sampford Peverell in mid Devon.
