Jim Bird (1937-2010) was a well known abstract painter and printmaker. Born in Bloxwich, West Midlands, he went to work as an artist in Spain in 1962, and moved to the United States in 1980, where he became a good friend of the painter Robert Motherwell and with whom he shared joint exhibitions. Jim Bird had over 100 one man shows and exhibited widely throughout the world, including at Galeria Joan Prats, Barcelona; The Art Package, Chicago; Redfern Gallery, London; River Gallery, Westport; Goldman-Kraft Gallery, Chicago; Lucy Berman Gallery, Palo Alto; and Gallery Art Alpha, Tokyo; and he also showed at the Basel Art Fair and the International Print Biennale etc. He died in Spain.
