Artist: Mark Lancaster
Title: A Group of Nine Abstract Studies from 1965 - all original drawings in mixed media, titled by the artist; all unframed
Description: In 1965 Mark Lancaster embarked on a project in New York City to execute a series of large abstract paintings. Two of the finished works are in UK public collections ('Claim' and 'Bloomingdale') and others have appeared for sale at public auctions from time to time. Each of these drawings is titled but none are signed. The provenance is the artist's aunt to whom they were given around fifty years ago. We also have the subsequent provenance. The media used is mixed (variously crayon, ink, pencil). The condition of the images is good. The edges of each card have been cut quite crudely. Further images of the other works not shown here are available on request.
Size: The image sizes vary from 1.5 x 3.0 inches, to 2.0 x 2.0 inches, to the largest 2.0 x 3.0 inches. Each work is on card which has been cut down. The card sizes range from 3.0 x 3.0 inches, to 2.5 x 5.0 inches, to the largest 'Bloomingdale' at 3.5 x 5.5 inches; unframed
