Maurice Alfred Kelly (1920-2015) was a well-known painter and teacher. He was born in Bournemouth and studied at Bournemouth College of Art and, after war service in the Royal Air Force, at the Royal College of Art in London. He exhibited his work widely including with the Young Contemporaries, Warwick University Arts Centre, Leamington Spa Municipal Art Gallery, The Minories in Colchester, and Chappel Galleries in Essex. During his time in the West Midlands he held the post of Head of Art at Mid-Warwickshire College in Leamington Spa. His work is held in a number of public collections at home and abroad. He lived for some years at Walberswick in Suffolk.
